SLING SAFETY
Mamma's Milk has been safely carrying the most precious cargo for over seven years.
Dr. William Sears, author of The Baby Book, puts it best when he describes babywearing:
"During my thirty years as a pediatrician, parents in our practice would often say, 'As long as I carry my baby she's content.' After years of watching a whole parade of babywearers we dubbed these thriving infants 'sling babies.' We noticed that the more we carried our babies the less they cried. With each baby, we began carrying them more and more." |
|
In fact, this reduced crying has been scientifically proven: The medical journal Pediatrics conducted a study which showed that Increased carrying reduces infant crying by up to 51%". Can you imagine your baby crying half as much?
As with any baby product, be sure to follow safety instructions. An important instruction concerns Positional Asphyxia (suffocation). Positional asphyxia can happen when a baby's airflow is restricted. Young babies (0 - 4 months) can be at risk, whether in a sling, carseat or even sleeping. |
|
Keep your baby's mouth and nose from becoming pressed against the sling or your body. This is especially important when your baby is sleeping or sick. Signs of positional asphyxia are frequent or continuous grunting, sighing and/or labored or rapid breathing. Keep your baby safe and happy by making sure that their chin is not tucked down into their chest. Gently lift baby's head back off their chest to ensure free air flow.
Babywearing is a wonderful comforting and bonding experience! |

|
Step 3
Slip the piece with the fuzzy Aplix into the tunnel with the rough Aplix. |
|
Step 4
When you get the sling to the size you want, unfold the piece with the fuzzy Aplix so that each fuzzy piece lines up with each rough piece. |
|
Step 5
Flip sling back right-side out so that you do not see any Aplix at all. |

TROUBLESHOOTING

|
|
*MOST COMMON PROBLEM : Sling digs into shoulder/chest
 Problem: Sling DIGS INTO SHOULDER/CHEST.
Solution: This is easily fixable and will make your sling go from feeling like a pair of too-tight high heels to feeling like your most comfortable sneakers. Loosen only top row of Aplix (velcro) a few inches. |
|
Sling falls off your shoulder
 Problem: Sling FALLS OFF SHOULDER.
Solution: Tighten only top row of Aplix (velcro) a few inches. |
|
Aplix (velcro) is showing
Problem: APLIX (velcro) SHOWING, leg padding showing.
Solution: Your sling is on inside out. Flip your sling right side out, so that the Mamma's Milk tag is showing and everything else is invisible. |
